PK USA has
announced its sixth expansion and its third manufacturing plant since
starting operations in the United States in 1989. The new plant will be
located in Gallatin, Tenn. The project is valued at $3.5 million, and the
construction is scheduled to start in June with a December completion
date.
PK USA is based in Shelbyville and has annual sales of $100 million.
The company is one of the foremost suppliers of metal body parts, chassis
parts and plastic injection molded parts of automotive companies in North
America and Europe.
James N. Gray Co., of Lexington, Ky., is providing the civil
engineering and site design. The new plant will consist of approximately
62,000 square feet and will be engaged in the production and distribution
of automotive metal assemblies. Plans are to initially hire 50 employees,
the great majority of whom will come from the local area. Hiring is
scheduled to begin after the first of next year.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to expand into Tennessee
and provide additional support to our primary customer, Nissan North
America,” Hiroshige Kakudo, president of PK USA, said.
“This expansion in no way reflects on our current operation in
Shelbyville. We will continue to enjoy a positive working relationship
with our Shelbyville community.”
