PK USA Inc., 600
W. Northridge Drive, was featured in the Business Spotlight segment of the
weekly “Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick” program, which aired
at 10 a.m. Sunday on WTHR TV-13.
Vice President Bill Kent and Vice President of Manufacturing Earl Miller
appeared on the taped segment.
Dick introduced the segment by noting that PK USA is a primary supplier of
metal body parts, chassis parts and plastic-injection parts for automotive
companies, operating in Shelbyville since 1989 and enjoying a great deal
of success.
Kent explained that the company started with one client, Isuzu in
Lafayette, and has since added five more — Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru,
Toyota and Honda.
The company has expanded to two plants, with 500 employees at PK USA plus
100 more at the Blue River Stamping subsidiary.
Miller explained the success by saying the Japanese and American blended
management team runs the company as a group with a common goal — success
and longevity — with high-performance people on the floor and an
emphasis on hard work.
“We have an excellent workforce,” Kent said, “and 60 percent are
from Shelby County.”
When training for additional skills becomes necessary, the company takes
full advantage of state grants for that purpose.
“We firmly believe,” Kent said, “that if we give our folks the
skills they need, we will be successful.”
When Dick asked Miller about the prospects for continued success, he
replied, “Our customer base continues to be real strong. All of our
partners are very supportive of what PK has done. They also have noticed
the profitability and success of our company....We have some long-term
business plans that will continue over the next five years.”
